LGD (Lead Glass Detector)


    The Lead Glass Detector (LGD) is nominally made up of 620 4cm X 4cm X 45cm Lead Glass Blocks. During this run most of the stack is 38mm X 38mm X ~45cm glass with shims. Around the beam hole and in a vertical column there is a stack of the 4cm X 4cm stuff. The beam hole is 2 blocks by 2 blocks, with aluminum support columns detailed later.

    The limiting apeature in this device is caused by the beam hole in the glass stack. As can be seen in the Post Script  or  GIF files the inner diameter of the beam hole is 2.90". There are four units, equally spaced along the Z axis forming the glass support network.
