Announcement:
We are happy to announce the winners of the 2011 JSA Poster Competition for Graduate Students. The judges have conferred, and here are the results for the Poster Competition:
First Prize: Katherine Myers
Second Prize: Don Jones
Third Prize: James Maxwell, Navaphon Muangma
The judges for the Poster Competition were:

We were impressed by the quality of the posters. Mostly everyone did an excellent of fielding questions and had a very good command of the material. It was exceedingly difficult to choose the top 3. We were aware that the students were at varying levels in their graduate career and see a lot of promise. They should be encouraged to participate in future competitions.
There were lots of good posters, and so the decisions were not trivial. The first, second, and third-place awards were $1000, $500, and $250 respectively. The poster session occurred throughout the day on Monday June 6, and the winners were announced Wednesday June 8.
Posters were judged on:
1) The clarity with which the physics and its motivation are presented.
2) The clarity with which the student presents his or her contribution to the research.
3) The overall quality of presentation.
Congratulations to all the students on their impressive work.
