DOE2000

Vision
To accelerate the accomplishment of the Department of Energy's (DOE) mission through advanced computing and collaboration technologies.

Focus
To fundamentally change how scientists work together and how they address the major challenges of scientific computing.

Goal
To increase the ability to solve DOE's complex scientific problems, increase R&D productivity and efficiency, and enhance access to DOE resources by R&D partners.

Currently, DOE2000 is comprised of three main components: Advanced Computational Testing and Simulation (ACTS), National Collaborations, and Collaboratory Pilot Projects. The DOE2000 research includes a multitude of items. Included in this research is Distributed Virtual Microscopy and Multicharacterization which joins ANL, LBNL, NIST, ORNL, and the University of Illinois into a single on-line interactive virtual laboratory. This can be seen in action through the Live TPM links to the collaboratory members sites.
