Environment, Safety, Health & Quality (ESH&Q) Division
The ESH&Q Division's mission is to provide support, programs and expertise to the laboratory in order to ensure a safe, secure and environmentally sound workplace in an efficient manner. The goal is to foster best-in-class quality performance with continuous improvement.
The primary objectives of the ESH&Q Division are:
- Provide line management support for safe work planning and conduct;
- Provide necessary ESH&Q expertise to direct and manage lab-wide and division programs;
- Provide technical support for hazardous activities and conditions;
- Work with line management and Training and Performance to develop and provide formal and "Just-in-Time" training in specific ESH&Q disciplines;
- Communicate ESH&Q information to assist line management in preventing and appropriately responding to potentially hazardous conditions;
- Monitor and report ESH&Q activities, serving as primary liaison with the DOE and other regulators.
- ESH Suggestions, anonymous or otherwise, may be reported to the hot line at 269-7137 to call attention to concerns or make suggestions that will improve safety, safety awareness or enhance our safety culture. The ESH Suggestion Line is not for time-critical safety issues or for cases where imminent danger exists. You should address any immediate, serious safety concern to your supervisor directly or, if necessary invoke your Stop Work authority.
