Michael D. Dallas
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Dallas has served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility since June 2006. In this position he directs, oversees and integrates the operations of a Department of Energy National Laboratory with a $100M annual operating budget. From April 2002 until August 2005 he served as the General Manager, Center Operations Support Services (COSS) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, a $250M 5-year program. Prior to this he served for five years as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for DynCorp Tri-Cities Services, Inc. in Richland, Washington. This was a 5-year $500M Maintenance and Operations project in support of DOE-Richland.
In 1996, Mr. Dallas completed a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Army. During his military career, Mr. Dallas served in a variety of command and staff positions in the United States, Republic of Vietnam, Korea, and Europe. In addition to command at the Brigade and Battalion level he also commanded the United States Quick Reactions Force in Mogadishu, Somalia, served as Deputy Commander, Multinational Forces in Haiti, and as Assistant Division Commander, 10th Mountain Division, a General Officer position. Mr. Dallas served in key staff assignments at the highest levels of the government, to include senior executive assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe.
Mr. Dallas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Pacific Lutheran University. He completed a fellowship program in Strategic Planning at the Sloan School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Certified Project Manager.
Always a very active participant in the community, Mr. Dallas has served on the Board of Directors of the Tri-City Cancer Center and the Columbia Basin Advanced Technology Center in Richland, Washington. He was also active on the Houston Bay Area Economic Development Council. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, as well as a member of the National Management Association and the Army Aviation Association of America.
Mr. Dallas was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He is an avid runner, golfer, skier and fly fisherman. He enjoys traveling and collecting art and antiques. He and his wife Mary Ann enjoy living in Williamsburg, Virginia.
