Claus Rode
12 GeV Project Manager &
Project Management and Integration Manager
Claus Rode became the Contractor's 12 GeV Project Manager in 2006; as such he has the overall responsibility for the project execution. The near term focus is obtaining DOE Critical Decision #3 approval. He also is Jefferson Lab's Project Management and Integration Manager. As such he is responsible for tracking and maintaining the schedules for all major projects undertaken by Jefferson Lab. He is also responsible for ensuring that all projects are planned in compliance with all governmental requirements, including those of the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Defense.
In 1986, Claus came from Fermi National Accelerator Lab, where he was the Senior Cryogenic Engineer for the Tevatron construction project; taking on the responsible for designing and building the CEBAF Central Helium Liquifier. He became the Deputy Head of the Engineering Division and the Deputy CEBAF Project Manager in 1987. Starting in 1989 he served as the Deputy Associate Director for the Accelerator Division and the Associate Project manager, as the accelerator was being constructed, commissioned and operated. He was appointed the 12 GeV Project Leader in 1998 and in the following year he was also named the Senior Team Leader (STL) for the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) project at JLab and which was successfully completed in March 2005.
Claus received a BSEE from University of Illinois in 1968, an MS in Physics from the University of Illinois in 1969, and a Professional Degree in EE from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1972. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional. He has been a member of Machine Advisory Committees for HERA, LHC and ILC.
