First of all, CEBAF1 still thinks it is "cebaf.gov". We worked yesterday
with the vendor of the pmdf mail server software and will be reconfiguring
the mailserver this morning abour 9:00 -- hopefully that will change
the configuration appropriately.
In addition, there is a certain "time to live" characteristic for
Internet addresses. This means that systems out on the Internet may
stil be using the fact that cebaf.gov used to be cebaf1.cebaf.gov --
and it may take up to 3 days for the new information to be propagated
out to the full Internet.
The moral of the story is: for a few more days it would be good to
keep checking email both on cebaf1 or cebaf2, as well as popmail.cebaf.gov.
When things are fully stable, the Computer Center will take care of
setting your mail forward correctly on cebaf1 so that all of your mail
will properly go to the popmail server.
