Rita,
Here's a few comments:
p.4 "setup" was not "customized for site use from the original FNAL version"
It was written from scratch by D. Quarrie to accomplish the same task
with less software overhead compared to FNAL's setup tool.
p.4 CVS should also be a supported freeware tool. It is used by EPICS, cdev,
and will be used by CODA (someday), and SHOULD be used by others. It is
built on top of rcs, and is state of the art and platform independent.
Other issues I would like addressed:
Termcap entries for "hpterm" on all platforms so that I don't have to
use xterm to get to the Sun.
Wish list: fix keyboard problems (meta key for Emacs on Hp, ...) for
different X environments
To what extent can the accelerator clusters (ops, dev) be integrated
into this effort to facilitate cross training? One major difference
is that we put data-full disks on clients, although I'm not sure how
many times this has been done. Perhaps these clusters could be
treated similarly to the online clusters. Lets discuss.
Regards,
Chip
