Carolina,
At Jefferson Lab, we had some trouble with the font servers from hp-ux v10.20
running on port 7000 as is specified in the start up script for the xfs font
server.
We chnaged the start up script to use port 7100 , which was also being
used by our Sun Font servers, and most of our font problems disappeared.
I also strongly reccommend removing as many specific font paths as possible
from initial configuration files. CDE ,on all of our platforms, wants
to completely flush the font path every time you log in. If font servers
are doing the work it takes less time for the xdm login screen to appear.
