Let me propose that we use the following rules for using the Hall B
IOC's to avoid interference. In most instances, there will be only one
person ever interested in using a particular IOC, and so the rules
will not even come into play, but in the few cases that they do, I
think that having a definite agreement will avoid aggravation in the
future.
Objections and comments are welcome of course.
0) Cooperation among users, done in person, by telephone or email is
always best. This alone will cut down on the times when rules are
necessary. But since this is not always possible...
1) If you want to use an IOC, log into it and stay logged on. This
will serve as a signal to others that the IOC is in use.
2) Log out when you are done using it.
3) If you want to use an IOC that someone else is logged into then
send a mail message to that effect to _all_ of the people on the list
contained in /home/marki/slow/ioc_users.txt. The people presently on
the list are:
"Mark M. Ito" <marki@CEBAF.GOV>
Sebastien Fabbro <fabbro@CEBAF.GOV>
Kathleen McCormick <mccormic@CEBAF.GOV>
VINEYARD@bart.urich.edu
Bonnie Madre <madre@CEBAF.GOV>
JENKINS@CEBAF.GOV
Johnny Tang <tang@CEBAF.GOV>
Sasha A Philips <philips@gwis2.circ.gwu.edu>
Arne Freyberger <freyberg@CEBAF.GOV>
Yannick Patois <patois@cebaf.gov>
Whoever is logged in will have 20 minutes to respond to the message or
be subject to manual reboot to kick him/her off.
Let me know if you want to be added to or deleted from the list.
