Topics discussed:
1. Beam line. Arne stated that we need to make sure that the cryostat
isn't full when we switch from the e1 target to the g1 target. This
will speed up the target change. Other than that, there's no problem
with g1 target installation starting 3/10/98.
We need another power supply for the sweeping magnet. Arne has located
two other power supplies. It takes about 4 hours to switch power supply
cables from magnets.
The schedule for Moeller commissioning looks tight, and they're limited
by access time.
We also need a helium bag for the downstream.
2. Start counter. Elton and Simon will put together a commissioning
plan for the start counter. They need to set H.V. and thresholds,
which have only been set using radioactive sources. Simon stressed
the need for testing the asynchronous input to the L1 trigger, and
Steve seconded his concern.
3. Task list. We agreed that a task list for g1 running and commissioning
should be set up. I (R.M.) will get this organized.
4. Trigger and DAQ. These are the tasks and people responsible for
trigger and DAQ.
i. GUI for setting CAMAC logic. Mike Duggan and Vardan.
ii. Level 1 trigger files with asynchronous input. D. Doughty and
Steve B.
iii. GUI for trigger supervisor. Steve .
iv. Fast cables from tagger to L1 trigger. Elton.
v. Commissioning plan for trigger and DAQ. Steve.
5. Tagger electronics. The ADML boards have been sent back to Phillips.
Elton and Luc have a plan for adjusting the gains and thresholds of the
boards to make them usable. Elton will push Phillips to get the boards
back ASAP so that the boards can be bench tested. Luc thinks the boards
can be installed during an accelerator maintanence period during e1. Luc
and Mike D. will work on testing and installation.
We also need discriminators and cables for the E-counters. The
discriminators are onsite and Elton will get Delisa Smith to find them.
Elton will order the necessary cables.
The PMT's for the E-counters need to be gain matched. Luc thinks that
50-75% of the PMT's need to be swapped. Luc will organize this effort
and when necessary will "draft" people to help. We need to get this
done by 2/9/98.
We would like to get some early commissioning data on the tagger
when e1 tunes the electron beam into the tagger for their initial
beamline setup. I'll negotiate with Steve Dytman for about 4 hours
of tagger tests during the beamline setup for e1.
6. Real photon software. Burin has incorporated the start counter into
GSIM and is working on RECSIS and SEB for the start counter. There was
discussion about obaining t0 from the start counter or the tagger. We
probably want to do it both ways and see what works best.
Eric and the C.U. group are working on RECSIS for the tagger.
Luc will start putting together a list of the histograms and scalers
that we want for real photon running.
7. Calibration reactions. Started a discussion of the calibration
reactions that can be used for real photon running.
i. gamma p ->pi+ pi- p . Useful for detector calibrations
at any energy. Inclusive cross sections known (from Luc)
up to about 800 MeV.
ii. gamma p ->pi+ n and pi0 p. Cross sections as a function
of photon energy and pion angle from Arndt. Accurate to the
20% level? Dave J. will get Arndt's code.
8. Commissioning plan for March. I'll coordinate the assembly of
our commissioning plan for March, and I'll be in touch with those
who have specific commissioning responsibilities. We should try to
have a rough plan together by the end of this week.
9. Next g1 meeting Thursday, Jan. 29.
