Hello All;
I have started a draft of a plan for continuing to commission the CLAS drift
chambers during the May run. I am trying to emphasize the running time
we need in which the drift chambers or the DAQ system or the rest of the detector
or the trigger, etc. is in a NON-STANDARD state. Please add to this document.
Next Tuesday I will present it as a draft request for special conditions for
drift chamber commissioning during the May run.
Assorted News:
Dan is leading the effort to get Reg. 1 cabled up and re-conditioned. He has
received pieces for the cable tray and will be supervising its installation.
Rich gave a comprehensive presentation of the catalog of problems which Reg.
1 experienced during the Feb. run.
Burin is leading the effort to fix the pulse calibration system - a mixture of
taking pulser calib. runs and analyzing them, and doing hardware troubleshooting.
Jun Ho is producing a bi-direction elec <--> wire map. He also will be installing
a facility to extract essential info. from monitoring histograms in order to
plot these quantities versus run number.
Francois is analyzing pulse calib. data in order to fill the time calibration
bank with T0's and status words. He is also overseeing the event time reconstruction
progress.
Jerry is implementing the on-line version of RECSIS - RECMON, as well as getting
ready for doing the drift velocity calibration.
Ross and Rory delivered the laser calibration system to CEBAF and succeeded in
getting it to work under LabView control.
Allena is beginning work on the "rapid-aging" chamber.
Joe Manak (new CEBAF post-doc) is starting to handle data base issues for the
soon to be created calibration files.
The whole RUG group is working on track matching with the outer detector with the
goal being to pass the timing info. for the identified electron in order to
calculate the event start time as well as beginning the process of identifying
all of the particles - both charged and neutral.
Dave T. informs me that much progress has been made on ReMux'ing the data and
that in the course of the work they discovered additional bugs in the clasfragment
code. We will coordinate with the online group to install these changes.
George Jacobs has been making progress in refurbishing the gas system to meet our
May goals - mixing, monitoring and filtering in the gas shed with gas either
exhausted into the hall or pumped back without recirculation.
Steve Christo has been putting together the RGA (residual gas analysis) system to \
be located in the gas shed.
Peter Bonneau's group has been working hard on the remaining HV and lv cable hookup
incl. making the Reg. 1 HV cable and laying this cable. Mark Taylor (one of Peter's
techs.) has been helping Steve Barrow and Burin to commission the remaining drift
chamber Fastbus crate readout.
I may have left something (and someone) out. I apologize if I did.
The other detector and software groups are also making lots of progress.
cheers, Mac
