Dear Drifters;
Much has been accomplished here at CEBAF. The final Region 3 chamber is
scheduled to be installed tomorrow. Region 2 has finished extensive leak
checking and repairing. Much of the electronics has been installed on
the space frame. We've begun to check each wire in the Reg. 3, Sec. 6
chamber and are preparing to do the same for Reg. 2, Sec. 6. We've discovered
a number of problems - 1 guard wire shorted to a field wire bus, several
very hot wires, a number of bad conncections between the HV disntribution
boxes and the HVTB busses. We've made much progress in DAQ - both hardware
and software. SFI controllers are fixed, pulsing is working including
CODA readout of the TDC's, and the wire --> electronics map (a.k.a. the
secondary readout list) has been changed and remade to accomodate a more
realistic cabling scheme. Region 1 6-sector assembly has progressed -
broken wires were removed, gas bags re-sealed and leak checked, tension
transfer redone. Now, on-board cabling is proceeding.

In 2 1/2 weeks the beam run starts. Between now and then we have to
install the Region 1 chambers, cable up Region 1, get DAQ and pulser
calibration going in the hall, finish signal checking and repairing of
chamber problems.

We have plenty to do. We need people before and during the run. The
run extends from Thurs, 2/20 until Mon 3/3 at 8 am. If everyone can
take about 4 shifts (of 8 hours) we can cover the shifts.
Thanks to Gail Dodge for organizing the ODU profs. - they have already
signed up for shifts. Out of town people - tell me if and when you can
be here and available for shifts.
- Mac
