DC Folks,
A couple of items that you might be interested in looking over.
1). I have performed a detailed study of pathologies for all of the
missing drift cells in the entire DC system. The results of this
study, along with detailed comparisons of a similar study performed
in October 1997 can be found on my web site at:
http://www.phys.cmu.edu/~carman/clas/dcwire.html
Essentially not much has changed in the drift chamber system except
for the semi-major problems with the broken wires in the Region 3
drift chambers. The main overall results are displayed in the tables
below.
October 1997 April 1998
Sense wire pulled 45 52
Electronics problem 45 59
Cable unplugged 0 0 Region One
Dead SIP 27 36
HV disconnect 90 90
Sense wire pulled 35 35
Electronics problem 108 48
Cable unplugged 31 47 Region Two
Dead SIP 15 23
HV disconnect 16 16
Sense wire pulled 91 91
Electronics problem 34 59
Cable unplugged 0 10 Region Three
Dead SIP 13 25
HV disconnect 16 587
2). At this point in time, I have addressed every "fixable" problem with the
drift chambers so that they are as good they can get. So I declare the
chambers ready for g1 and eg1 at this point. For your information, we are
planning on a repair cycle for the drift chambers to extract the broken
wires from Region 3 sectors 2 and 3. The dates on this repair period are
uncertain due to the fluidity of the schedule. They will either be in
July/August, or more likely in January 1999.
As always, if you have any questions about these items (or others), let me
know.
Daniel
