Agenda:
1. improving pdu
2. 'ideal geometry' for region 2 chambers
3. code in the dc package
4. automatic procedures for x(t) functions
Present: Alex S., Bogdan N., Franz K., Jim M.(via speakerphone),
Joe M., John M., Mac M., Richard T., Stepan S.
item 1:
'pdu' is not using the DC_CHANNEL.map but taking the dc_index from
DC0 bank, i.e. there aren't any corrections for swapped signal
cables or other channel-map corrections taken into account.
The output is a badwire list based on 'DC0' indices.
'pdu2' has to correct the indices before making occupancy plots
depending on functional units.
Remaining questions concerning 'pdu' were:
run on a fixed number of events in order to have comparable output;
efficiency for finding hot wires;
normalisation function (the averaging that is used now works well
for pulser data but it's eff. on real data has to be studied).
Richard will look for improvements concerning
- compare pdu output with existing DC_STATUS.map
- iterative approach to find dead/hot wires
- find a better normalisation fit ("averaging")
item 2:
After changing the 'Bogdan center' (ideal geom.)
for Region 2 by X->X-1.01mm
the elastic peaks is at the right W value for sectors 1 & 5,
the other sectors are still off by +10 to +15 MeV due to misalignment.
Bogdan argued that he got the elastic peak at the right W value
with the design (ideal) geometry without the modifications that
were made over the last few months. Nevertheless, we have to start
from the real geometry as the chambers were constructed - not from
designed values - and then have to adjust for misalignments via
survey data and analyses of B=0 runs.
item 3:
There are several routines in the DC package which are obsolete because
(i) parameters are now read from map files - not BOS files,
(ii) there are several choices for x(t) relations that are obsolete.
Moreover, as all the code in dc/ is also used in trk/ we decide not only
to clean up the dc/ and trk/ code but move the remaining dc/ routines
into the trk/ package.
Common blocks should only be used within a single package.
The 'Makefile' scheme should be changed to search for include/header files
only in the package itself and the include/ package.
Franz, Joe, and Liming will clean up the code.
item 4:
The last item wasn't discussed during the meeting.
Franz, Liming, and Mac will work on utility routines in order to
get the x(t) calibration automized.
Jim will check in his modified tracking code. Bogdan argued that
it might not be working properly but is interested in a comparison
of this modified tracking and his own one.
